In class, especially during geography, science and religion lessons, the pupils ask all sorts of interesting questions- some of which we can answer straight away, and some of which we need to research. This blog is for the pupils to record these curious questions and then for others -classmates, teachers, parents and friends, to post their answers. Sometimes there might even be more than one answer to these curious questions!

Continental drift....
We were learning about plate tectonics in class and we discovered that the continents are slowly drifting towards/ away from each other. Some of the students were curious (and concerned!) about what will happen when the continents finally "crash into" each other.

there will be a lot more mountains huge earthquakes
ReplyDeleteYou might be right Ellie. The continents are moving very slowly together: only at a rate of 1cm per year, so when they finally meet, there may or may not be a reaction such as earthquake or volcano (I don't think we'll be around to see it!)
ReplyDeletethe conintents will hit eachother and they might shake
ReplyDeleteGood on you Ellie, you have your thinking cap on. 5 classroom euros for you for answering the question.
